Carolyn Cleveland Elworthy passed from this life on 27 March 2026. She was surrounded by loved ones at her home of 26 years overlooking roses and the Columbia River. She was a person of many gifts and is most remembered for her extraordinary kindness, needlepoint, and stoicism. It was clear that her pride of the United States and our shared liberties were unwavering. Born Carolyn Ethel Cleveland in Orlando, Florida on 1 January 1930 to Bernice Young Cleveland and Edward Kuharske Cleveland. Even in her advanced years, Carolyn was a self-described army brat. Her father served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, World War II, and the Korean Conflict thus the family of four travelled extensively in post WW II Europe. Returning to the states, she completed her Bachelor of Science in 1951 at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida where she met the love of her life Richard Paul Elworthy. They married on 30 August 1952. Carolyn was known for her selfless gift of time to loved ones. Her attention to all living things, regardless of popular opinion or appearance, is unparalleled. Carolyn is survived by her three children Mark P. (Camas, WA), Teri L. (Vancouver, WA), Todd R. (Manitou Springs, CO), five grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

William “Bill” P. Whiffen, Jr., 66, of Naples, FL, passed away on March 20, 2025. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on May 10, 1958, to Wm. “Pete” & Myra Whiffen, he grew up in Great Barrington, excelling in sports and building lifelong friendships. He moved to Florida in 1999, retiring in 2023. Bill will be remembered for his wit, humor, and love of storytelling. He cherished fishing, hunting, and family traditions. He is survived by his children, Andrew & Jessica, their spouses and 5 grandchildren, sister Deborah, and former wife, Stephanie. He was predeceased by his parents and granddaughter Rose.
